So, obviously we’ve mastered the art of making ice cream, so you could just leave it up to us and order a case of Cold Case Ice Cream to arrive in a cooled box at your door. Or, you could spend hours making your own… up to you!
Expected time for prep: 3 hours, or more (depending on chill time)
Servings: 4-6
Recipe:
- 2 Cups Heavy Cream
- 1 Cup Whole Milk
- ¾ Cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- Any other flavoring you’d like to add (cocoa powder, fruit puree, coffee, peanut butter, etc.)
- See Flavor Guide below!
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
Gather your ingredients, including heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and flavorings (e.g., vanilla extract, cocoa powder, fruit puree, etc.). The specific ingredients will depend on the flavor you want to create.
Step 2: Mixing The Base
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar. The exact proportions will vary depending on your recipe, but a common ratio is 2 cups heavy cream, 1 cup whole milk, and 3/4 cup sugar.
Step 3: Adding Flavor
If you're making a flavored soft serve, add your chosen flavorings. For vanilla soft serve, you'd add vanilla extract. For other flavors, add ingredients like cocoa powder, fruit puree, or coffee.
Step 4: Mixing and Chilling
Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves and the ingredients are well combined. Then, refrigerate the mixture to chill it. This can take a few hours or overnight for the best results.
Step 5: Preparing the Ice Cream Machine
Set up your soft serve ice cream machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure the machine is clean and properly assembled.
Step 6: Churning
Pour the chilled mixture into the machine's hopper. Turn on the machine to start the churning process. The machine will incorporate air into the mixture as it freezes, giving the ice cream its characteristic smooth and light texture. This process typically takes about 15-25 minutes, but the time can vary depending on your machine.
Step 7: Serving
As the soft serve ice cream begins to form, it will flow out of the machine's nozzle. Use a serving cone or cup to catch the ice cream. You can serve it directly or store it in a freezer for a firmer consistency.
Step 8: Toppings & Sauces:
If it’s anything Cold Case Ice Cream does INCREDIBLE, it’s our toppings and sauces. Ice cream is not complete without the perfect combination of delicious add-ins. Here are some of our fan favorite flavors to give you some inspiration… (see below).
